Simon Bickersteth has been Vicar of St James since September 2016, having previously served in parishes in Windermere & Walsall. Simon is married to Beata, and they have three sons: Tomek, Adam and Henryk. He is passionate about seeing people come to faith in Jesus. In his spare time he loves walking in the fells, watching films, and enjoys a good curry!
Nina Orchard joined St James in July 2020, and serves as curate within the parish and the wider Two Rivers Mission Community.
Toby Harling is the Church Administrator. It is his role to ensure our services can take place by preparing service sheets and schedules for the projector screens, manage bookings for the Parish Centre, order supplies and make sure all our invoices get paid. Toby will assist with general enquiries and point people in the right direction when further information is required. If you are interested in booking any of our rooms e.g. for sports groups, training or children’s parties, then Toby is the person to speak to.
Andy Blake is the Cornerstone and Op Shop manager. Andy works with a fantastic team of volunteers to lead the churches ministry in the heart of Denton Holme. Cornerstone is home to our coffee shop where books and DVDs are also on sale. There are also meeting rooms available for hire. The Op Shop sells reasonably priced clothing and bric a brac, funds raised go to supporting our work in the community.
Ruth Scholes is our Youth Worker, responsible for working with young people from the ages of 11 upwards. She joined the team in St James in September 2019.
Katie Hunter is our deputy shops manager, joining the team in June 2020 and is working alongside Andy.
Joan White is our verger. She can be found welcoming people on a Sunday morning, and occasionally in the church or the parish centre during the week. Joan also works with couples enquiring about weddings and offers guidance as they plan their service.
