About Us

St James is a church of all ages, in the city of Carlisle, with a particular focus on the community of Denton Holme, Long Sowerby and Cummersdale.

We are an evangelical Anglican church, that seeks to be open to God’s Holy Spirit, and faithful to the teaching of the Bible.

As well as activities and events taking place throughout the week, we meet for worship every Sunday at St James Church on St James Street in Denton Holme (details on our homepage). Please click HERE for more information about our Sunday services.

Together we are committed to glorifying Jesus, seeking his Kingdom and living wholeheartedly as his disciples, praying that he will use us to share his transforming love with our friends and family, parish, and town, this is summed up in our mission statement:

Two Rivers Mission Community

St James is part of the Two Rivers Mission Community, a group of four Church of England parishes, and two Methodist Churches, working together in mission to reach people in Carlisle with the love of God.
