Weddings

A marriage service, wherever it is held, is a public declaration of love and commitment to your partner. If you choose to get married in church, there is an added dimension – the assurance that God cares about your relationship and that his resources and strength are available to help you. Including God in your marriage doesn’t mean that you will avoid all the usual ups and downs, but you will know that you can look to God for help and guidance and that his love will sustain you and you will have the support and encouragement of the Church family.

Renewal of Wedding Vows

We are always delighted to offer couples the opportunity to renew or reaffirm their wedding vows to each other. This may be to celebrate an anniversary, such as a silver, ruby or golden wedding. It may also be something couples wish to do after a time of separation or difficulty in their marriage. If you have any questions about renewing your wedding vows at James, you are always welcome to discuss your plans with the Vicar,  but we have compiled some of the common questions that we are frequently asked to get you started. Many of the couples for whom we conduct services for the renewal of vows are returning to the church where they were married. However, many are also local people who were married elsewhere and now want to reaffirm their wedding vows at their local church. We would normally only offer this service in St James, as either part of one of our main services, or as a separate service.  However, there may be good reasons (e.g. illness) which would make it appropriate for it to happen elsewhere.

How do we arrange it?
