The Prayer Course II

Praryer Course II LogoLast year as a church, we looked at the Prayer Course. This year for Lent, we are going to be running The Prayer Course II, looking at the important but difficult topic of unanswered prayer.
We hope that the home groups will be studying this course together during Lent, and we will also be offering it as a centrally run course, taking place in the Parish Centre on the following Sunday evenings:
Session 1: Sunday 27th February, God on Mute, engaging the silence
Kicking off the course with an honest look at the four big questions we all ask when confronted with suffering
Session 2: Sunday 13th March, Maundy Thursday, How?
“How am I going to get through this?”
In this session we address questions of the heart: seeking to find purpose in pain and strategies for dealing with disappointment.
Session 3: Sunday 20th March, Good Friday, Why?
“Why aren’t my prayers working?”
In this session we wrestle with some of the most difficult intellectual questions: why does an all-loving, all-knowing, all-powerful God allow suffering?
Session 4: Sunday 27th March, Holy Saturday, Where?
“Where is God when heaven is silent?”
Exploring the questions we ask when we find ourselves trapped between the pain of Good Friday and the miracles of Easter Sunday.
Session 5: Sunday 10th April, Easter Sunday, When?
“When will my prayers be answered?”
Celebrating the home we have in the resurrection of Jesus and anticipating the day when all our prayers will find their answer in his return.
Each session will include a talk (lasting approximately half an hour), a time for discussion, and prayer.
