This is an easy walk of Roman exploration alongside Hadrian’s Wall between Gilsland and Birdoswald. Great scenery, Roman history, tea rooms, play park, free book library, trains and toilets all to see! The distance is about 3 to 4 miles and the walk should take between 1.5 to 2 hours, with just one steep incline of around 100 yards. Afterwards there will be the opportunity to visit Birdoswald for those who wish. Please bring a packed lunch, or visit the tea rooms at the end of the walk.
