om logoOver 5400 people from 90 nations are serving with Operation Mobilisation to bring a message of hope to the peoples of the world. They have one thing in common – they love Jesus and want others to have the opportunity to hear about Him.

The Purpose
OM works in more than 100 countries, motivating and equipping people to share God’s love with people all over the world. OM seeks to help plant and strengthen churches, especially in areas of the world where Christ is least known.

What does OM do?
Working in every continent and on every ocean (via two ocean-going ships), OM seeks to demonstrate and proclaim the love of God. In every situation OM teams adapt to the local culture and situation, finding the best ways to share Jesus. Through literature, the creative arts, friendship, Bible studies, videos and cassette tapes, correspondence courses, relief and development work, and much, much more… by all means possible they will tell people how their lives have been changed….and how they met Jesus.

Wherever possible, OM works in partnership with the local church, encouraging and supporting local believers. Where there is no church…. They seek to plant churches.

Peter and Win MaidenPeter Maiden – our link with OM
After starting a career in industry, Peter went on a summer campaign with Operation Mobilisation to Spain and along with a team, saw a small church planted in the town of Cullera.

On returning from that campaign he joined the Open Air Mission and spent 18 months travelling around fairgrounds and horse racing courses, involved in open air preaching. He then spent five years working as an itinerant evangelist and Bible teacher, mainly in British universities and Brethren Assemblies.

Peter is now International Director of Operation Mobilisation and is responsible for the day to day leadership of the missionary society worldwide.

He is also Chairman of the Keswick Convention, Joint Chairman of the International Christian College in Glasgow, a Board member of STL and an Honorary Canon of Carlisle Cathedral. Along with this he keeps busy with an intensive Bible teaching ministry throughout Britain and in many other countries of the world.

Peter and his wife, Win, live in Carlisle. They met as teenagers through the youth fellowship at Hebron Evangelical Church where Peter now serves as an elder.

They have three children, and a growing number of grandchildren living in the UK and the USA.

He is a voracious reader and likes to do his best to keep physically fit – cycling, running and visiting the gym.
