Over the last few months the Cornerstone working group have been busying themselves advancing the Cornerstone project. Working alongside Hyde Harrington, we have finalised the plans (details available on the Cornerstone Page) gained Planning and Building Regulations Approvals and have put the project out to tender. Once tender prices come in we will have a clearer idea of the overall project cost.
We have also been looking at a number of grant making bodies to see if we can raise some additional funding on top of what we have already been given by the Congregation, the expected realisation of capital in connection with the Curatage and a substantial legacy. Whilst there is nothing firm yet, there are a number of possibilites that are still being pursued.
We are also excited that we have agreed to appoint a Centre Manager/Missioner subject to enough funding and PCC approval. Some information is available in the September Edition of Connect and we hope to have more details available towards the end of September.
We have been meeting at the premises regularly to pray for Cornerstone, however it is likely that these prayer meetings will now need to revert back to our Parish Centre as we prepare for demolition. Further details regarding timing and venue for these prayer times should be available soon, either via the website or in our weekly church services.
Following recent meetings, lots of prayer and discussion we have named the Denton Street Project “Cornerstone”. Thanks to James Vincent we also have a shiny new logo (below). Don’t forget to keep checking the DSP page for updates.
We have also applied for planning permission for the redevelopment of the premises and hope to hear the results of this in February.
We have an estimated cost of the project from the architects. We hope to complete the project for somewhere in the region of 400,000 GBP. Please prayerfully consider how you may be able to support us in raising this money as well as how you can get involved once the building project is completed.
The PCC agreed recently to appoint Hyde Harrington to undertake feasibility studies, prepare drawings for Planning and Building Regulations Approval and send plans out to tender for the re-development of our premises on Denton Street. Hyde Harrington presented 3 optional layouts to the Denton Street Group for their consideration and they are currently incorporating further ideas presented to them and should be bringing back a further plan for our consideration shortly.
David, Lucy, Mary, John, Paul, Raymond, Matt & Joan would like to thank you for your continued prayerful support and feedback over the last few weeks. Your input is invaluable to the project, both prayerfully, through ideas and through words of encouragement.
Just to keep you updated – The Denton Street Group met tonight (18th Feb) to continue our discussions on the project. The main focus of the evening was looking at the plans and ideas. We have found out that a Post Office is currently not a possibility. It is an idea that has been seriously considered by the group, however Post Office Limited currently stick by their decision for their not to be a need for a Post Office in Denton Holme.
The group will be meeting again on 11th March. Please continue to pray for the group, as they consider more formally ideas generated by the questionnaire and create a list of requirements and “can we do’s?”.
If you would like to discuss the DSP further, please come and chat to one of the group who would be more than happy to provide more information or discuss your ideas.
Thanks
The group are currently considering layout of the premises and how it could be used for the various ideas that are being considered. We would appreciate prayer as we seek God’s guidance and look at the plans before we meet again on 19th February to discuss this further.
