Get Passionate About Prayer

“if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.”

24 Hours of Prayer

7pm Friday 2nd April

St James Church is holding a day of prayer. An opportunity for us to gather together as a church, to meet God and pray for our City. There will be a number of prayer rooms offering interactive, thoughtful, loud and quiet times of prayer. Kicking off with a time music led worship and prayer at 7pm in the Parish Centre. All you need to do is sign up for a slot of 1 hour, on your own, with a friend or group of friends. There is no limit to the number of people who can pray at any one time.

We will also be offering prayer for the people of our community and flyers will be winging their way around the Parish a week before the day of prayer. People can call, text, email (or post) their prayer requests. There will also be some people on hand to pray with others between 10am and 12 pm at Denton Street on Saturday 3rd April.

If you want to join us and “Get Passionate About Prayer” then please sign up by filling on the form at the back of Church, or by contacting the Parish Office.

How “Get Passionate About Prayer” came to be.

This 24 hours of prayer, put simply, came from God. This day is about God, and is devised by Him. God had put over the last few months a passion for prayer on a number of people’s hearts. It was when each of these people came together one evening in February that the momentum started. There was no major miracle in that all the people weren’t strangers, they were a group of friends who just happened to turn the conversation to prayer and having a day of prayer. The group soon grew and between that first discussion, a week later 8 people met to draw up plans for a day for a day of prayer in our community. Inspired by the 24/7 movement and other gatherings for prayer around the country, we are where we are now. Planning, with much excitement, and with little control other than God’s guidance a day of prayer to Get more people Passionate About Prayer.
